It is polysimous in meaning. The emo scene portrays the culture, music, day-to-day activities, fashion, and attitude of its many followers. Although it is important to note that the emo of today is not exactly the same as the emo scene of the 80’s and 90’s. However, the emo scene comes off as a bad influence to the youth of today because of the misconception that it is a kind of movement promoting depression and bodily mutilation. Extreme personal angst and mental aberration seem to be very much attached to the emo scene. This may be true but following the emo scene doesn’t necessary lead to these things. Some simply follow the hairstyle and dress codes but not the bad stuffs the emo scene is so notorious of.
